Our Story

I’m Faareha, the founder of Muna Swimwear.

My journey to create full-coverage swimwear was born from my own struggle. The drive to build Muna Swimwear originated from my experience growing up in Canada, as a Muslim woman who could never find the perfect modest swimwear that blended style with functionality.

Throughout my travels, I felt alienated in my improvised swim clothes and found a serious lack of full-coverage options available for women like myself. After years of constantly feeling defeated with the limited options available, my feelings of frustration eventually became a catalyst for me to redefine swimwear, by creating original designs that merged coverage with modern design.

My journey sparked from our condo in Toronto, where I dedicated every spare moment outside of my full-time marketing career to learning, sketching, and drafting solutions for all of my swimwear problems. My vision came to life and began to gain momentum when I was accepted into a renowned business incubator at Toronto Metropolitan University, The Fashion Zone. I took the plunge and quit my corporate job only to spend over two years immersed in perfecting and developing several prototypes, finally creating full-coverage swimwear that would tick all my boxes.

Having taught myself to swim despite often being discouraged, I hope to encourage women who may have hesitated to learn crucial skills due to societal and cultural stigmas. I want them to push past any limitations and feel confident, especially if they previously avoided water activities due to a lack of inclusive swimwear options. With a steadfast commitment to quality, sustainability, and thoughtful design, I will continue to create swimwear that seamlessly blends coverage with contemporary styles and practicality.

    Sustainability

We are committed to making a positive impact on the environment, one swimsuit at a time. Our fabric is crafted from recycled materials sourced from discarded fishing nets, which pose a threat to our oceans. By repurposing these materials, we hope to reduce waste and protect marine life from harm.

You can be confident that our swimwear is made with care and consideration for both people and the planet. We work extremely closely with our production partners to ensure that every step of the manufacturing process is carried out with the highest standards of safety, fairness, and respect for workers' rights.
